02.07.07 BLINGED UP BADGERS!
The curtain finally came down on the 2006-7 season this weekend, with the traditional Player Awards Presentation. Over the course of the afternoon, the efforts of the Badgers were recognised with over 150 trophies, shields and medals - collectively redesignated 'bling' by U9s coach Graham Edwards!
In addition to the player awards, there were also some special presentations marking the efforts over many years of those who have helped ensure Brockham Badgers continues to flourish. Long-serving club member Hilary Baxter, who is retiring as Pitch Co-ordinator, received the MacPherson Shield; Martin Bangs, who is standing down as Treasurer, received the O'Hanlon Cup; and the
Manager of the Year was Gordon Walker, in recognition of his achievement in establishing Girls' football in the club.
Thanks go to Martin Wright and Alison Robins for an astonishing job in co-ordinating the collection and engraving of all the trophies.
More than a hundred photos from the day are now available to view on our Flickr Gallery. Click here.
The event also saw our first-ever Boot Exchange. Many thanks to the dozens of people who brought along boots they have grown out of to pass on to other players. We now have a good stock of second-hand boots available for free. So, if you didn't get to pick up a replacement pair this time - or would like to exchange a pair in the future - the boots will be out again at a future Club event. Details will be here on the website in due course.
