15.04.07  LUCKY THIRTEEN

No need for superstitions about the number 13 in the U14As. As the season nears the end, our representatives in the Surrey Youth League turned in an impressive 13-1 home win over Elm Grove Colts. It's a result that keeps them on course for a fantastic third-placed finish in their first season in the challenging Premier South Division.

Equally impressive - the U11As ended a marvellous first year of the 11-a-side game. Their final game brought a 4-1 win at West Byfleet, ensuring they end the season nine points clear at the top of the Epsom and Ewell First Division.

With one game to play, a 5-0 win keeps the U10 Assassins at the top of Epsom and Ewell Division Two but, with their nearest rivals having games in hand, they face an anxious wait to see whether they can clinch a promotion place in the top two.

The U10 Assassins scored three goals in the first five minutes, on their way to a tenth game unbeaten.
Elsewhere, perhaps the Easter Eggs were taking their toll as the U17s, U15As, U15Bs, U14Bs and U12 (Whites) all enjoyed a return to competitive action - but had little to enjoy in the final score.

15.04.07  MESSAGES REGARDING STEWART VAUGHAN

The Club has received the following message from Dorking FC, following the involvement of Brockham Badgers boys at the Stuart Vaughan Benefit Match against Crystal Palace:

"Stewart would have wanted the football to continue and Dorking FC made the decision to proceed with the planned benefit match against a Crystal Palace XI on 3 April as a fitting way to pay tribute. A good crowd of 1,021 fans turned up on the night and saw an entertaining match which Palace won 5-1.

An emotional two minute silence preceded the game as the players and fans paid their respects to Stewart, ending with the release of one hundred Marie Curie balloons by local youth teams, including from Dorking FC's affiliated youth club Brockham Badgers FC and Dorking Girls FC.

Dorking FC would like to thank Brockham Badgers for their excellent support of both the Portsmouth and Crystal Palace games, including the many boys and girls who took part in the Portsmouth Guard of Honour and the Crystal Palace Circle of Honour."

Stewart's father, Derek Vaughan has also contacted the club to express his thanks for the support and to let us know that Stewart had always been keen to see young players given the opportunity to fulfil their potential - and he had been deeply touched by the enthusiasm shown by our boys during the Portsmouth match.

The Club is extremely grateful to Mr Vaughan for taking the time to write so generously at such a difficult time.

22.04.07  CHAMPIONS MAKE THEIR POINT

After a tight end-of-season run-in, the U12 (Blacks) went into their final game needing a point to clinch the Horsham 'D' Division Championship. After twelve consecutive league victories they had cause for optimisim....but a resilient Southwater made them fight all the way. In the end, a goalless draw was enough....and the U12 (Blacks) have become Brockham's third league champions this year, following the U9 (Reds) and U11As. Congratulations!

The U10 Assassins also brought the curtain down on their league campaign in style. A 9-1 away win at South Park leaves them at the top of the Epsom and Ewell Second Division with a huge goal difference. Now they must wait whilst their nearest rivals play out their games in hand - anything less than three wins out of three for

second placed Horsley will almost certainly deliver the title to the Badgers. Meanwhile, the Final of the League Cup beckons next Saturday!

If you can spare a little time, please contact Alison Robins  - click here to send her an email.

29.04.07  CUP A LOAD OF THIS....

Brockham Badgers picked up no fewer than three pieces of silverware this weekend!

First, the U10 Assassins rounded off their season with a terrific 5-1 victory over Whyteleafe B in the George Szekely Cup Final. Then, the U9 (Reds) played in the first of their summer tournaments - getting off to a flier by bringing home the Tadworth Cup without conceding a goal.

Finally - the club can take great pride in the achievements of the U14Bs. They have been awarded the Horsham League's U14 Sportsmanship Trophy - having received top marks for conduct across the season from

opposing managers. Their achievement in receiving the best scores out of 29 teams is all the more remarkable because they also achieved a third placed finish in the league, showing they can hit high standards on the pitch, whilst still maintaining the right attitude. Well done to Martin Bangs and his squad.

The U12As were also finalists this weekend, competing for the Horsham League Cup. Although they had to settle for being Runners Up, after a 2-0 defeat, they can take great pride in making it to the Final.
