04.03.07 MARCHING
ON!
The U10 Assassins got March off to a flying start. Six goals without
reply at Merstham was more than enough for three points. They were
also rewarded with hitting the top of the Epsom and Ewell Second Division
for the first time this season. It's tight at the top though
- two points separate the top four teams with some of the Badgers'
rivals having games in hand. But for now at least, they can enjoy
their achievement.
Elsewhere, it was a question of digging in
and grinding out points.
The U17s returned to league action
after a three week break with a 2-2 draw at Alexandra United.
The U15As were held 1-1 by Heron Olympic on the Big Field and the
U12 Girls earned a creditable 1-1 draw at Guildford Saints. The U9
(Whites) can also take pride from a battling performance. They
lost 2-0 to Albury Griffins but, playing without any substitutes,
all seven boys kept running to the final whistle.
Ouch!
No gain without pain for the U10 Assassins - who gained
six goals, three points and a place at the top of the table..
Stewart Vaughan
Benefit Match: Many thanks to everyone who came along to support
the Benefit Match between Dorking and Portsmouth for Dorking's captain
Stewart Vaughan. A fantastic crowd of 2,200 turned up for the game
on Tuesday evening and Brockham Badgers players formed a guard of
honour at the start. Portsmouth brought a star-studded line-up including
Glen Johnson, Todorov, Lua Lua, Benjani and Matt Taylor. Harry Redknapp,
Sol Campbell, Kanu and Andy Cole also came along to support Stewart
and sign hundreds of autographs.
Details of a further possible
benefit game at Dorking will be announced here as soon as they are
available.
10.03.07 CRUNCH TIME!
This weekend is the biggest
of the season so far, with Championships and Cup Finals at stake -
so come and lend your support. Three teams will be competing in Cup
Semi-Finals and two of our sides have the opportunity to wrap up a
league title.
The U9 (Reds) face nearest rivals Holmbury in the
Tadworth League 'A' Division. They have a 100% league record so far
this season and a draw in this game will make Brockham the champions.
The game is on Saturday morning at Brockham School.
Meanwhile,
the U11As travel to Wolves - a win will confirm the Epsom and Ewell
Division One title, with four games still to play.
The
U11As - one of two Brockham teams who can wrap up a league title this
weekend.
After three seasons failing
to win a single cup match, the U14B’s are just one win away from the
Horsham League Plate final. They face Chiddingfold, flying high
in the division above, on their home ground on Coxcombe Lane, south
of Guildford. Kick off is 10am on Saturday - anyone who fancies making
the trek to support the boys on a tough assignment will be most welcome.
Closer
to home, the U12As play in the Semi Final of the Frank Geiss Memorial
Cup. All supporters are invited to the 11am kick off on Brockham's
Big Field. Finally, the U15As will also be competing for a Final place
in the Fred Sparkes Cup. Their semi-final clash with Horsham Crusaders
kicks off at 9.30am at a neutral venue in East Grinstead.
14.03.07 HEROICS
AND HEARTBREAK
Brockham Badgers saw both the pleasure and pain
of football in a weekend of Championship deciders and Cup Semi-Finals.
The
U9 (Reds) were the headline grabbers. They needed just a point to
wrap up the Tadworth League title. Their 3-1 home win over nearest
rivals Holmbury was more than enough! What's more - they've yet to
drop a point. Their final league match is this coming Saturday 17th
March. Manager Tony Moriarty would like to invite as many people as
possible to come along and cheer on the team as they attempt to complete
the magnificent feat of going through the season with maximum points.Kick off is 9.30am on the Big Field.
Our first title winners of the season...
the U9 (Reds).
The U11As are likely to
be the next team to clinch a league title. Their 2-2 draw away to
Wolves means that the title will be theirs barring a most unlikely
reversal of goal difference. A point in any of their four remaining
games will also put the matter beyond even the slightest doubt.
Congratulations
also go to the U12As - they overcame a half-time defecit against strong
opposition from Ashurst Wood Albion with a remarkable 6-1 scoreline
to earn a place in next month's Final of the Horsham League Cup.
There
was disappointment - but great credit - for the U14Bs. Against higher
league opposition, the matched Chiddingfold all the way in the Semi-Final
of the Horsham League Plate. They took the lead and hung on determindly
for much of the match, but eventually succumbed 3-1. Disappointment
too for the U15As, who also missed out on a Final place after losing
to Horsham Crusaders. Both our sides are to be congratulated for such
a good run.
In league action, a special mention must go
to the U13As who have been battling away for months and finally recorded
their first points of the season in a 5-1 home win over Royal United.
19.03.07 CHAMPIONS!
The Badgers have confirmed
their second Championship team of the season so far. After all
but wrapping up the Epsom and Ewell First Division title last week,
the U11As made absolutely sure on Saturday, coming from a goal behind
to beat Stanley Park Dynamos 5-1. The Badgers have landed the title
with three games still in hand. Congratulations to Simon Coffey and
his squad.
Congratulations too to the U9 (Reds). Last week they
won the Tadworth League. This week they recorded another feat - a
100% season-long record. A 1-0 win was enough to ensure ten wins out
of ten. Well done to all.

confirmed as Epsom and Ewell Division 1 Champions!

Elsewhere, the U12 (Blacks) continued their pursuit of the Horsham
'D' division title, with another win. It's the six-pointer next Saturday
- against second-placed Twin Oaks.
23.0.07 EASTER HOLIDAY COACHING COURSES
This Easter holiday, UEFA B-licensed coach, Nick Torpey,
will be running his popular football coaching courses on the Big Field.
Nick,
who delivers coaching throughout the season to all Brockham Badgers
players, will run sessions from 2nd - 6th April, for boys and girls
aged from 6 to 13.
The sessions on the Big Field are
totally flexible - players can attend as few or as many of the
two-hour events as they wish.
25.03.07 PROMOTED!
Brockham
made it a hatrick of honours this weekend. After championships for
the U11As and U9 (Reds) in the past two weeks, the U12 (Blacks) secured
promotion from the Horsham League 'D' Division with a tight win over
nearest rivals Twin Oaks.
This league win was the boys' twelfth
in succession - a fantastic run of form that leaves them needing just
one point from their final league game (on 21st April) to also confirm
the league title.
Elsewhere, there were strong wins for the U15As,
U14As and U8 (Blues), and creditable draws for the U13Bs and U10 Assassins,
who twice came from behind to ensure another week at the top of the
Epsom and Ewell Second Division.
The U12 (Blacks) celebrate the win that confirms
promotion. One more point will give them even more to shout
about.

the massive success of the first benefit match against Portsmouth
last month, Dorking FC have confirmed they will host a second Stewart
Vaughan benefit match against a Crystal Palace XI on Tuesday 3 April
2007 at 7.45pm.
