26.11.06  IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED....

As the rain lashed down, and fixtures fell foul of waterlogged pitches throughout Surrey, every team that turned out to compete this weekend can consider it something of an achievement  (even more so for every parent who stood on the touchline!).

However, the most remarkable achievements were to be found in the U12 matches. The U12 (Whites) have been plugging away since September, playing six league games without success. But they got their reward with their first win of the season on Saturday - and they did in style, running out 8-0 victors over North Holmwood.

There was plenty to cheer about for the U12 (Blacks) too. Facing the unbeaten league leaders, Twin Oaks, the Badgers scored five goals in a wind-assisted first half. They then battled against the elements and survived a late scare to earn a 5-4 victory.

Elsewhere, the U10 Barbarians continued their fine run of form, with a 3-1 victory at Stanley Park and there was a narrow defeat for the U13As.

05.11.06  ON FIRE!

As Brockham hosted the Bonfire, the Brockham Badgers' strikers were on fire, with high scoring wins on the Big Field.

Leading the way, the U14Bs consolidated their second place in the league with a 9-3 victory over Ockley Acorns. The U12 (Blacks) laid on a goal feast and moved within three points of the leaders in an 8-5 home win over Southwater. The U9 (Reds) made it htree wins out of three with a comfortable 6-1 victory over Walton Warriors. And the U10 Assassins turned in a second half attacking performance to run out 6-2 winners against Merstham.

Scorching performances across the Big Field on Bonfire Weekend - the U10 Assassins were just one of several big winners.

In fact, it was a clean sweep for the U10s, with the U10 Barbarians winning 2-0 against Horley Town and the U10Cs getting a 3-2 away win at Horsley - moving up into third place in the process. All three U10 teams practiced corners in midweek training and, you've guessed it, all three teams scored from corners on Saturday!

The U15As also secured third place in their league, just two points off the leaders, after a 1-0 success at Broadbridge Heath. There were wins too for the U11As, in the second round of the Surrey County Cup, and the U11Bs along with the U17s, U14As, U13Bs and U8 (Blues).

THANK YOU....

to all the players, friends and families who turned out this morning to help tidy the Green and the Firework Field. Your work is greatly appreciated by the Brockham Badgers FC Management Committee - enabling us to get a substantial donation from the Bonfire proceeds, providing a boost to Club funds.

12.11.06  CUP HALF-FULL

At the end of a weekend dominated by second round Cup action, half our teams remain in their knock-out competition.

Facing lower league opposition, the U13As took full advantage, earning their place in the third round of the Horsham League Chairman's Cup with an 8-0 victory over Henfield. The U15As won 3-0 at Steyning.

Two sides who didn't make it through to the next round deserve particular praise for honourable performances. The U14Bs faced Billingshurst, two divisions higher, eventually losing 2-0. Whilst the U11As faced Whyteleafe, leaders of the Epsom and Ewell Premier Division, and gave them an excellent game, making several marks on the woodwork, before eventually succumbing to a creditable 2-0 defeat.

One of the few Brockham teams in league action - the U10 Assassins. The performance was a little lacking - but the goals still flowed.

Amongst the teams playing league games, the U10 Assassins moved within three points of the Epsom and Ewell Second Division leaders, with a 3-0 win at NPL and the U12 Girls picked up a well-earned point at Woking Cougars.

20.11.06  LUCKY SEVEN

Plenty of reasons to celebrate for the U12As this weekend. In their seventh league outing, they notched up their first win of the season with a well-deserved 5-3 victory at Steyning.

Winning is nothing new to the U11As. Their 3-2 defeat of second-placed Caterham Pumas moves them six points clear at the top of the Epsom and Ewell First Division. Brockham's other table toppers, the U9 (Reds) maintained their 100% start to the season, in a hard-fought 2-1 win at Holmbury. Elsewhere, their U9 colleagues, the Blues and the Whites might not have gained any points, but they gained plenty of praise from their coaches for spirited performances in defeat.

The U11As - six points clear at the top after a good away win against their nearest rivals.

There were mixed fortunes for our two teams in Cup action. The U17s lost 4-2 at home to Hook, with the damage done in the first half, whilst the U10 Assassins continued their excellent run of form - toppling league leaders Horsley 6-1 to earn a place in the Semi-Finals.

In a strong weekend for Brockham Badgers, there were wins too for the U15As (8-1 no less!), the U15Bs (their second of the season), the U12 (Blacks), U11Bs, U10 Barbarians, U8 (Blues) and U8 (Reds) - whilst the U14As fought back from 2-1 down at half-time to earn a 3-3 draw at Elm Grove Colts in the Surrey Youth League.
