RUNNING FOR LUKE AND NEIL
8 March 2008

Brockham Badgers has embarked on a major fundraising effort. It marks the work of the rescue crews involved in the accident in which Luke Holland lost his life and his Dad, Neil, was criticially injured.

The events of January shocked us all and a lot of thought has been going into ways in which we can try to create something positive out of this tragic situation.

The Surrey Air Ambulance

A number of people will be attempting to raise money for the Air Ambulance Services which, without doubt, saved Neil’s life. These amazing services receive no official funding whatsoever and rely totally on donations. Neil and Sally Holland are really happy for money to be raised for both the Surrey and London Air Ambulance Services - and so a team of volunteers will be raising sponsorship by taking part in the British 10K London Run in July.

The target is to raise £10,000. Brockham Badgers Chairman, Grant Ashley, is one of the team, who have been dubbed Neil's Runners. He says, "Brockham Badgers is a wonderful club and we have shown how we can pull together and achieve great things. It would be brilliant if we could somehow achieve this sponsorship target together. I am really hoping that every family will make a donation towards this cause."

If you would like to sponsor Neil's Runners, two special "Just Giving" websites have been set up. These sites mean that donations will receive gift aid - so every £10 donated means the Air Ambulance Service will receive £12.80. Click here for the Surrey Air Ambulance donation site - and here for the London service site. These sites also have more details about the fundraising and the runners - and you can see how the donations are building.

Also if any of the boys or girls in Brockham Badgers have ideas for setting up other fund raising events, then all the money can go into the same pot. You can email us to let us know what you would like to do and we can publicise the different events here on the Badgers website.

Brockham Badgers FC and Neil's Runners thank you for your support.
