Brockham Badgers joined with other local people to raise the money, marking the work of the rescue crews involved in the accident in which Luke Holland lost his life and his Dad, Neil, was criticially injured.
The way the events of January shocked us was very evident by the emotional applause for Luke, led by Neil, at the Family 5-a-side in May - and the subsequent generosity of visiting clubs to Brockham 08 in July.
The main fundraiser, Neil's Runners involved a number of volunteers, whose best long distance days were long and distant, taking part in the British 10K London Run on 6th July. It was a remarkable success - and even Neil Holland joined the runners around the course.
Before that, Brockham Badgers U12s and U13s carried out a sponsored 5k cross country around Brockham and Betchworth in May, adding £1000 pounds to the fund in the process. Almost a hundred players, pets and parents took part. Click here for a full report.
And on the second day of our annual tournament, Brockham 08, the Surrey Air Ambulance landed on the Big Field, offering tours to some of the thousands of players and spectators in attendance. A further £1000 was raised in voluntary donations.
If you would like to dontate money to these remarkable services, which rely on donations to keep flying, then it's not too late. Please visit one of two special "Just Giving" websites. Click here for the Surrey Air Ambulance donation site - and here for the London service site.
