SITUATIONS VACANT
4 July 2010

We may only just have taken down the goal posts for this season, but we’re already planning for the next one. We have a number of vacancies for volunteers for the coming season. They’re open to any parents or others associated with the club – please do have a think about whether you might be able to help. If you’re interested in helping out in any way, please click here to email with your phone number and a member of the Management Committee will be in touch.

Head of Football
After seven years in the role, Simon Coffey our Head of Football is standing down. He’s setting up a new youth side at Dorking FC which will provide an excellent opportunity for Brockham Badgers players to continue with football when they reach 16. So –we need a new Head of Football. The role involves helping to co-ordinate pitch allocations, equipment, discussing playing development of our teams and liaising with our Club Coach Nick Torpey to provide help and assistance to managers in their training sessions. This role would suit either an existing Team manager or a parent interested in taking a co-ordinating role in the club as a whole. And don’t worry - Simon Coffey will still be around to supply advice throughout the coming seasons.

Mini-Football Co-ordinator
This is a new role to liaise with the U7 to U10 Managers and Events Reps over organisation, training and playing - and discuss their requirements with the Head of Football and Management Committee. Again, it could be an existing Manager or Events Rep – but the role would also suit any parent from U7 to U10 who would be interested in helping out with the football-side of the club and ensuring we develop our boys and girls the best we can.

Website Editor
We are looking for a new volunteer to run our website. The role involves updating the site each week with match reports submitted by managers and parents, putting other news and general announcements online, and general maintenance of the site. It’s a role that takes a couple of hours a week, but can be carried out at times that suit you. This is a non-football role and would suit anyone with an interest in the web. Website experience is not essential – anyone who is capable of the using Microsoft software would soon get to grips with the software used for the website. If you prefer, there is an option to carry out the role alongside the existing Website Editor during the coming season, learning the ropes, with a view to taking it over next summer.

Don’t forget...these roles are open to everyone. No previous experience necessary. We’re all volunteers who put up our hands to help with vacancies like these in the past - and we want to get as many parents involved as possible. So if you fancy getting involved with Brockham Badgers in the coming season, please do email and let us know.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
4 July 2010

The Brockham Badgers FC AGM is on Tuesday 13 July at 8pm upstairs at Dorking Rugby Club on the Big Field. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

It’s been a very significant and progressive year for the Badgers both on and off the field. Along with the usual AGM formalities, it will be an opportunity to take stock of the past year and plan ahead for next season and beyond. Please do try to be there.

The new look Annual Awards Day was a roaring success for Brockham Badgers - regardless of who went home with the trophies.

On a sun-baked Big Field, hundreds of players, family and friends enjoyed an afternoon of football-related activity with picnics and a hog roast. The day culminated in the presentation of the annual awards for players in every team on our tournament podium.

Congratulations to Fiona Rabbetts and the Events Team. It was their second event - and a a second major achievement. Over 150 pictures are now available on the Brockham Badgers Flickr site here. Thanks to everyone who helped out, and to U13's Dad Alan Gout for the photography.

Next up, it's the Big One - Brockham 2010 on 12th and 13th June. See you there!

HEADS HELD HIGH
9 May 2010

The U14As had a day to remember with pride as they became the first Brockham side to contest the final of the Surrey County Cup.

They faced one of the top grassroots youth sides in the country, AFC Wimbledon. And although there was to be no silverware, the Badgers came away with their heads held high after taking the lead and contesting a match that ended in a 3-1 win for Wimbledon, who completed their second successive treble.

For a village-based team to be competing in Surrey's top cup final against an elite club was a fantastic achievement and the boys can take pride in going further in the competition than any Brockham team in the club's thirty year history.

Meanwhile, the U10As added to their Tadworth League title by winning the annual St Paul's Tournament in Dorking.

THANK YOU
4 May 2010

Thank you to the many parents, friends and family members who helped out so readily on Bank Holiday Monday. Despite the weather, you put on one of the most successful 5-a-side Fun Days we can remember. A record number of boys and girls took part - with 260 players from U7 to U17 enjoying the traditional friendly sporting atmosphere of this unique scratch tournament.

Thanks again to everyone who helped - and especially to the Events Reps, led by Fiona Rabbetts, staging their first event since the new team was formed at the start of the year.

There are two more, major events to come this season - our new Awards Family Day and our fifth annual open tournament, Brockham 2010. Details here.
