CUP SORCERERS
29 March 2010

The magic of the cup came to Brockham this weekend - as the U14As (pictured) made history as the first-ever Badgers team to reach the final of Surrey's premier youth cup competition - the Surrey County Cup.

It's a remarkable achievement for a village-based side, who booked their final place courtesy of a 1-0 win over one of the top, selective clubs Hampton and Richmond Borough. Full report and picture special here.

They'll face AFC Wimbledon in the final on 9th May.

Elsewhere, the U15Bs brought their season to a strong close with a 2-1 win over Chesworth Rovers, making it two wins in their final three games. The U18 Royals shared the points in a ten-goal thriller at Kingstonian and there were good wins for the U14Bs and U10As.

BIGGEST EVER CUP CLASH:
GIVE US YOUR SUPPORT

The U14As set new standards for Brockham Badgers this weekend when they play in the semi-final of the prestigious Surrey County Cup. For a team from a village-based club to be competing in the last four with the elite grassroots clubs of Surrey is a fantastic achievement. The opponents will be Hampton and Richmond Borough Juniors.

Everyone is invited to come and give them your support and help them take that next big step to the final! Kick off is 11am on Sunday 28th March on the Big Field.

FIRST AMONG CHAMPIONS
25 March 2010

Several Badgers teams are challenging for honours this season - but the U13Bs are the first to secure a league championship. They did it in some style too - an 8-1 win over Holmbury Wolves on the Big Field, comprehensively wrapping up the Horsham and District C Division title. Congratulations to manager Jason Hughes and all the boys.

Congratulations too to the U15As and U12As - they both won semi-finals this weekend and will be representing Brockham Badgers in Horsham and District Plate Finals next month.

WHAT A RELIEF!
25 March 2010

As well as earning another three points in the Surrey Youth League this weekend, the U13As also hoovered up some cash for Sport Relief, by staging their own Sport Relief Mile on the Big Field. Players, Dads and even some of the Mums took part. Play the video above to see pictures from the finishing post (though you'll have to watch to the end to see the mum's crossing the line!). Together they raised £200.

GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS
17 March 2010

After a couple of disrupted months, there was another full programme of league football for the Badgers this weekend.

And we're well and truly getting to the business end of the season - with plenty of teams still challenging for honours or promotion, and plenty of signs throughout the club that teams and individuals have really improved during the season.

The U18 Royals (actually an U17 team) notched up their third league win with a 4-3 thrilling win against Surrey Youth League high fliers, Sheen Lions. The U15 Girls kept up the pressure at the top of the Surrey Girls League Division 1, with an 8-1 victory over Kingstonian. The U13As (pictured) kept things exciting in the race for promotion to the Surrey Youth League Premier Elite, with a 4-1 win at Elm Grove Colts, whilst the U13Bs won the table topping six-pointer at St Pauls Panthers.

And the U10Bs showed just how far they've developed with their best performance to date - a 3-0 win at Holmbury Wolves C.

There were other excellent results for the U16As, U15Bs, U14As, U12As, U11As and U11Bs.

FINAL CHANCE
8 March 2010

The Badgers are in with a great chance of at least one Cup Final, after a weekend of action that saw no fewer than three of our teams earn Semi-Final places.

The U14As (pictured) have already made history - their Surrey County Cup Semi-Final place is the furthest any Brockham team has ever been in the prestigious competition. Elite opponents, Hampton and Richmond Borough stand between Simon Coffey's side and a place in the Final.

Meanwhile the U15As and U12As both notched up convincing wins to reach their respective Semi-Finals of the Horsham and District Plate.

Congratulations to all. And commiserations to the U13Bs, a Horsham 'C Division' side who were drawn against 'A league' high-fliers Cranleigh Youth in their Quarter Final. They can take great pride from a brave performance and exiting the competition by only a narrow margin.

FINAL FIRST
1 March 2010

Congratulations to the U18 Royals - the first Badgers team ever to make a Cup Final in the pretigious Surrey Youth League.

Brockham's final place came after a hard-fought 4-1 semi-final victory over elite side Kew Park Rangers. Their success in Surrey's highest echelons of youth cup football is all the more remarkable considering the Brockham U18 Royals are actually an under 17 side - formed out of last season's U16As and Bs.

Meanwhile, in this weekend's matches, there was more success for the Badgers in the Surrey Youth League. The U13As 6-0 success (pictured) over Premier League leaders Wandgas has shaken up the top of the table and put the Badgers in with an outside chance of promotion. The victory was matched by their counterparts in the U13Bs, who played Maidenbower United in the Horsham League and came away with a 7-2 win.

Meanwhile, a slightly less welcome 'first' - the U10As season-long unbeaten run finally came to an end with a narrow defeat at Albury.
