RAIN STOPS PLAY - BUT NOTHING STOPS U10s
29 November 2009

A weekend of rain brought floods to parts of Brockham and cancelled half the scheduled matches. But the U10As refused to bow to either the weather or title rivals Albury Eagles. In their top of the Tadworth table clash on the Big Field, the Badgers cemented their position as league leaders with a hard fought 1-0 win.

Also proving that every raincloud has a silver lining, the U12Bs picked up their first point of the season, drawing 3-3 with Ewhurst in a six-goal thriller.

Elsewhere, congratulations are due to the U13Bs. They travelled to Roffey Robins Athletic in the second round of the Horsham & District Plate. Despite their opponents flying high in the division above, it was the Badgers who came away with a place in the third round courtesy of a 1-0 giantkilling win.

BADGERS HIT NINE TOO!
22 November 2009

It's not just the Premiership where 9-1 wins are headline news. In Brockham this weekend, no fewer than two Badgers teams won by the same scoreline.

A 9-1 home win over Hearts Lions saw the U10As climb to the top of the Tadworth League.

Meanwhile, the U12As moved into the third round of the Horsham & District Plate with a 9-1 win at the Big Field. Unfortunately, the U12Bs went out of the competition by the same scoreline, after finding themselves drawn against opposition from three divisions higher.

Elsewhere, the U9As kept up the pressure at the top of the Tadworth League with a 2-0 home victory, and the U14As navigated their way through a tricky Surrey Youth League Cup tie at Leatherhead Predators.

MIXED FORTUNES
16 November 2009

The Badgers' fortunes were as mixed as the weather this weekend. There were a few bright spells - but, in the main, our boys were washed away in a tidal wave of opposition goals.

The U15As gave us something to cheer, marching into the the Quarter Final of the Horsham and District Plate with an 8-1 win over Royal United. However, the two division gap was too much for the U15Bs to breach, as they went down 9-0 to Roffey Robins. In a depleted league programme, the U13As five game unbeaten run came to a decisive halt at Claygate.

BROCKHAM ON FIRE
9 November 2009

As the Brockham Bonfire went up in smoke - the Badgers Cup chances were anything but. The U13As cruised into the third round of the Surrey County Cup with an 11-1 win over Orpington Rovers.

The U14As also showed no ill effects from a late night at the Bonfire, as they visited Barnes Eagle Colts in the Surrey Youth League and came away with a 5-2 victory.

A good win too for the U11As, who enjoyed a 6-0 victory over local rivals, Ockley Acorns. Elsewhere, there was a victory for the U10As and the U13Bs shared the points in a six goal thriller with St Pauls Panthers.

Finally thanks to all the boys, Mums and Dads who helped clear up the village on Sunday morning ensuring, once again, that the club's funds will receive a boost from the Bonfire. Don't forget the U12s-U18s are helping clear the firework field by Borough Bridge next Sunday morning at 8am. Please do try to come along and take part.

TOUR OF STRENGTH
1 November 2009

With the Badgers committed to a number of tours this season, the U15s led the way with their half-term visit to Hampshire. No passports were necessary, but the tourists were flying - scoring eight goals and coming home with two victories in friendlies at Littleton and Ringwood.

Thanks to both clubs who were excellent and hospitable hosts to our boys.

Back home, parents' umbrellas got their first big workout of the season as the rain lashed down, accompanied by swirling wind, on the Big Field. The results were as mixed as the weekend's weather, with wins for the U16As, and U14As and defeats for the U16Bs and both U18 sides. The U14As showed good character to come back from two goals down and secure a draw after a couple of recent defeats in the Surrey Youth Premier Elite.
