EASTER ACTION

Just five Brockham teams saw league action over the Easter weekend. There were excellent wins for the U16Bs, U14Bs and the U13As (easing relegation worries). And although the result didn't go their way, the U10Cs put in another gutsy performance in icy conditions.

HEROES AND HEARTBREAK
11 March 2008 |
As is traditional, the Cup competitions brought heroes and heartbreak this weekend. The U16Bs were the heroes as they booke dtheir place in the Horsham and District U16 Plate Final, following a fine 5-1 win over Partridge Green.
Looking for a second successive League Cup Final appearance, the U13As performed heroically - but ultimately there was heartbreak as they went out in the Semis to Ashurst Wood Albion.

FIRST AMONG CHAMPIONS

The U12Bs - this year's first Badgers team confirmed as Champions
(Click on the picture for full screen version) |
Several Badgers teams are pushing for a league title - but the first to be confirmed as Champions are the U12Bs. Coach Duncan Hanwell and his team wrapped up the Horsham and District D-League title with two games to spare, after a 1-0 win at Ashington Cougars.
Duncan says: "Even though the lads won the title, I would like to thank all the parents who have made the job of running the team so much easier with their co-operation, enthusiasm and best of all, good behaviour! There have been no touchline spats and most matches this season have been played in very good spirit. This is what Boys football is about, even more than winning. But we have done both!"
Meanwhile, both U14 teams kept their title pushes going. The U14As lie in second place, but their 4-2 away win narrowed the gap to just three points with three games in hand. And the U14Bs remain a point clear after a 2-2 draw with nearest rivals, Horsham Tigers. There wer also good wins for the U18s, U16Bs, U13 Blacks, U13 Whites, U13 Girls, U12As and U11As.
