RAINING GOALS
27 January 2008 |
After weeks of rain left pitches unplayable throughout Surrey - including even the usually resiliant Big Field - league action returned this weekend. And this time it was raining goals!
The U10As led the way with a stunning 9-1 away win at Caterham Pumas - including eight goals in the second half! Unsurprisingly, U10 player Harry Morris describes it as "one of the team's best games of the season." Read his full match report here. |

Elsewhere, there was a 13 goal thriller in the Horsham and District U13 Plate, as Brockham's U13 Whites just got the better of Southwater. The U12Bs beat their nearest rivals Forest Row Junior 5-1 to move six points clear at the top of their division. The U16Bs are eight points clear after a 5-1 home win over Maidenbower and a 6-4 away win for the U14Bs kept them joint top with two games in hand.

CLUB STATEMENT: LUKE HOLLAND
20 January 2008 |
On Saturday 12th January, Luke Holland and his father Neil were involved in a car accident. Tragically Luke did not survive and Neil is still seriously ill in hospital.
Luke played for the U15s, managed by Neil and Phil Harvey. Luke was a gifted young football player who contributed to team spirit and performances, he was very popular and well liked with every one he met. He also contributed to the club in other ways, this season assisting with the coaching of the U11s as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award. Luke will be greatly missed by all his team mates and friends, but never forgotten.
When the time is right, the Club will discuss the most appropriate way to commemorate Luke. In the meantime, we would like to offer the Club's sincere condolences to his mother Sally and Neil. It is hoped that Neil will make a full recovery so that, in due course, they will slowly be able to start to rebuild their lives. |

ALL SQUARE
6 January 2008 |
League action returned after the Christmas break with some potentially season-defining games for the Badgers.
No fewer than four of our teams faced "six pointers" against the teams lying adjacent to them in the table.
And it was 'as you were' for three of our teams as their games ended in a draw. The U12As remain second in the Surrey Youth League after a 2-2 draw with third-placed |
|
Tooting and Mitcham Imperials. It was 1-1 in the Epsom and Ewell League meeting between the U10As and West Byfleet Scorpions. And the thriller of the day was the 6-6 mid-table clash between the U11Bs and Broadbridge Heath. But there was disappointment for the U13 Blacks, who endured a see-saw battle with Albury Eagles, before conceding two late goals to lose 4-2.
The U16s started the new year as they finished the old one - in winning form. Both the As and Bs notched up 5-1 home wins to continue the title push in their respective Horsham and District Divisions.
