A FLOOD OF GOALS
26 January 2009

Another downpour, another weekend of disrupted fixtures - with some of Saturday's and all of Sunday's matches falling foul of the wet weather. But there was no shortage of goals - unfortunately the majority of them ended up in the Brockham net!

Despite defeats, there were spirited performances by the U14Bs and U11 Meteors against top class opposition. Meanwhile, the U10 Blues returned to winning ways at home to Mogador Rangers, and the U12Bs moved to within two points of winning their league with a second successive 4-0 victory.

BROCKHAM 09 OPEN FOR BUSINESS
21 January 2009

Brockham 09, Brockham Badgers' fourth annual open youth football tournament, is launched today.

Once again we're getting ready to welcome nearly 200 teams and more than 1500 players, boys and girls, to the Big Field for this year's event - on 13th and 14th June.

Registration is open now and any clubs wishing to take part are advised to get their application in early - last year the most popular age groups sold out in just a couple of weeks. And our Early Bird applications suggest that this year's event will be more popular than ever. Entry fees remain the same for the third successive year.

NEW YEAR BLUES
19 January 2009

All good things have to come to an end! The U13Bs unbeaten league record lasted from the first game of the season right through to the end of 2008. But, in the first game of 2009, they finally experienced defeat.

The record wasn't surrendered lightly. They battled hard before losing 3-2 to Merstham Youth, who replace the Badgers at the top of the Epsom & Ewell Second Division.

Elsewhere, the U12Bs maintained their 100% record with a 4-0 win over Ewhurst.

Shooting for the top. The U12As have the Surrey Youth League leaders in their sights.

And it was the happiest of new years for the U12As. Their first game after the break saw them beat Surrey Youth League Division 1 leaders, Kingstonian Youth Colts. The Badgers are now just two points behind Kingstonian with a game in hand.

There were also wins for the U15Bs, U13As and U11 Comets - whilst the U14 Girls were edged out by just one goal, in a nine goal thriller at Hamsey Wildcats.

THANK YOU: AIR AMBULANCE FUND CLOSES WITH TRIPLED TARGET
4 January 2009

At the end of the year, the fundraising appeal for the Air Ambulance Services has closed, having far exceeded all expectations.

Back in  February, following the tragic death of Luke Holland in a traffic accident, and the saving of his Dad Neil’s life by the remarkable work of the air ambulance crew at the scene, a number of  relations and friends decided to embark on a fund raising initiative for the London and Surrey Air Ambulance Services.

The campaign was centred around Luke’s football club, Brockham Badgers, and the main event was the British 10km London Run on July 6th. The group set themselves the ambitious target of raising £10,000.

They asked friends, schools, the general public and local businesses to help produce a small but positive outcome to this tragic story by making a donation and supporting the incredible work of the air ambulances services.

And everyone has certainly done that!

At the formal closing of the campaign the total raised is an amazing £29,234. All those involved in the initiative would like to say a huge thank you to all contributors. We think it is a wonderful tribute to Luke and a fitting way of thanking the Air Ambulance Service for Neil’s life and helping them continue their vital work in the future.

Brockham Badgers FC sends its thanks to everyone who contributed in any way and the club's thoughts are, once again, with Neil and Sally.
