PRACTICE AND JUST PERFECT
23 February 2009 |
Many congratulations to the U14Bs. After ten defeats in a row, the lads have notched up their first league points of the season - a 2-1 home victory giving them all three points against Southwater Black in the Horsham 'C' Division. It's a mark of the team's character that they've kept going since September - and they richly deserve their reward this weekend. Let's hope there's more to come!

The Half Term training squad.

Meanwhile, with many of our teams having a half-term break from competitive football, a number of players took the chance to brush up on their skills with our Coaching Adviser, Nick Torpey.
Nick Torpey Just Soccer ran a Talent Development Programme at the Big Field. Around thirty players, aged 7 to 14, developed age appropriate skills and sessions were designed to be intensive but fun. Nick says ‘’The course has highlighted the depth of local talent, which is an exciting prospect, but must be developed with care’’.
Thanks to the coaching staff, U11s Coach Lewis Evans and Rosie Lethbridge, who helped create a positive atmosphere over the week. The next course will be at Easter with details to follow on Nick's website. |

The date has been set for Brockham Badgers' main social event of the year - the Annual Spring Ball.
This year's event takes place later in the season than before - on Saturday 16th May. Please note the event in your diary - booking details will be announced here nearer the time. |

U12s HIT THEIR STRIDE
17 February 2009 |
Exactly half way through their first season in the Surrey Youth League, the U12As have hit the top of the Division One table.
A 3-2 away win at Hampton Manor was their ninth victory in eleven games and puts them a point clear with two games in hand. Keep it up for the next eleven matches!
Elsewhere, half term saw a truncated league programme, but there were wins for the U14As and U10 Whites. Whilst the U16Bs were 2-0 up with just a couple of minutes to go at Kirdford, but had to settle for a point. |

U13s WIN SURREY YOUNG TEAM OF THE YEAR
9 February 2009 |
Congratulations to the U13As, who have been named the Surrey Young Team of the Year in the Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser Sports Awards.
It's a magnificent achievement and a well-deserved recognition for a team that has not only played football the right way - but set new standards for the Badgers in the process. |

The team are in their first season in the county's top league - the Surrey Youth Premier Elite - where they are currently in third place. The achievment of the squad is all the more impressive for boys from a community club, against opposing clubs that often operate trials and elite selection. Manager Simon Coffey wants to thank everyone who voted for the Badgers in the awards. The presentation will take place on 26th February at a Gala Awards dinner at Lingfield Racecourse.
The U13As celebrated their award with a 6-0 league win over Hayes Youth on Sunday. In a league programme that, once again, fell foul of the weather, there were also wins for the U14 Girls and and the U12As.

FREEZE A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW
2 February 2009 |
After weeks of disruption to fixtures, the weather held off just long enough to complete this weekend's games. Fourteen Brockham teams were in league action just before the snow and ice engulfed the village.
And despite the arctic conditions, there was a warm glow for Martin Wright and the U15As. They notched up their first victory of the season...a 3-2 home win over Ockley Acorns. Congratulations to the whole squad! |
|
There were celebrations too in the Under 10s. The U10 Whites completed the double over nearest rivals Albury Eagles. The 1-0 away victory puts the Badgers three points clear at the top of the Tadworth C Division.
Elsewhere, there were good wins for the U14 Girls, U14As and U9As. And both the U13As and U12As notched victories to continue their push for a good finish in the Surrey Youth League.
