NOT TOO MUCH TO CHEER
29 October 2007 |
Another truncated half-term league programme saw just five Badgers' teams in competitive action. And, despite some spirited fightbacks, just a handful of points were earned.
The U18s returned to the fray with a 3-2 win over Epsom Rangers Reserves. But the U12As finally relinquished their 100% league and cup record. They conceded two early goals against Corinthian Casuals and, despite dominating the second half, couldn't quite recover the defecit.

The U11As (pictured right) also went two goals behind - and found it just too much to pull back, losing narrowly by 3-2 at Worcester Park.

PLAYING ON....
22 October 2007 |
There was no rest for the younger Badgers this weekend, despite the half-term holiday.
With the Horsham League taking a two week break, attention turned to our players in the Epsom & Ewell and Tadworth Leagues.
And the younger Brockham players didn't disappoint - delivering committed performances, nail biters and goal feasts in good measure.

The U8 Blacks (pictured) were top scorers in only their second competitive league game - a 5-0 away win over Albury Eagles. That's two wins on the spin now for Nick Torpey's squad.
The U9 Blues made a real game of it at Walton, and can feel proud of their display despite being on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline. The U11As continued to settle in to the 11-a-side game with a third successive victory and the U12As maintained their 100% record in all competitions this season.

CUPS OF PLENTY
15 October 2007 |
It was Cup weekend for the Brockham Badgers sides in the Horsham and District League - and, with teams playing opposition from different divisions, goals were plentiful!
No more so than in the U15Bs match where the boys made history by notching up their first-ever cup victory. (Yes - really!) The years of trying paid off with a handsome 11-0 home win against Kirdford.

|
Elsewhere, as the goals flowed, the results largely went according to seniority of league division. The notable exception was the U14As, who continued their fantastic start in the B Division by knocking out A Division opponents Ockley Acorn with an 8-3 win.
Amongst the teams in league action this weekend, the U9 Blues were top scorers. In their first match of the season, they ran out 11-1 winners over Chilworth. And the U11As (pictured above) survived a second-half wobble and climbed to third in the Epsom and Ewell League with a 7-2 win against Bookham Colts B.

TOP TENS!
07 October 2007 |
|
There was a double reason for celebration in the U10s this week. First, the A-squad hit the top of the table on their first season in the Epsom and Ewell League, after an impressive 3-0 win at Bookham.
The early-season success is all the more remarkable after the U10 yeargroup was completely re-organized in the summer, taking in more than a dozen new boys, a new manager and three new coaches - making use, for the first time in the club's history, of some of our U18s to take on coaching roles with the younger players. Congratulations to all - keep it up!
The second celebration has come with the announcement of new shirt sponsorship. The new sponsors are Sussex-based managed logistics and distribution company, International Logistics Group Ltd.The MD of IL Group, Grant Ashley, is also the Chairman of the Badgers. Speaking about the sponsorship, Grant said: "This season the U10's squad has been through a complete overhaul and is set for some exciting times ahead. It just felt like the right time to lend my company's support and get all 36 players kitted out and ready for action! There are some really good things going on with this squad and under the stewardship of Simon, Lewis, Tom and Greg I am sure all three teams will have a great season. Everyone at ILG will be following the fortunes of the U10's and wishes them good luck."
Elsewhere this weekend, the U8s enjoyed their first-ever competitive matches - taking part in the Tadworth League. And there was plenty to enjoy, with good victories for both teams. There were other strong results across all the other age groups too - including a remarkable cup victory for the U11As.

DON'T FORGET YOUR ABACUS
01 October 2007 |
Never mind Portsmouth v Reading - this weekend's real high-scoring matches featured the Badgers! Anyone not paying close attention would quickly lose count as Brockham teams across the age groups rifled in no fewer than 64 goals!
You could count the U13 Whites' goals on both hands - and one foot. They were top scorers of the day, with a 13-0 home win over |
|
Cranleigh Cranes. The U15Bs were 8-0 winners, the U12As earned their place in the second round of the County Cup with a 7-0 win against Kew Park Rangers, and the U14As made it four straight wins with a 5-0 victory.
The U16Bs also went into the weekend defending a 100% record against Horsham Sparrows. Player James Boyman writes: Brockham went straight on the attack and by the third minute were 1-0 up. Read his full match report to see how they got on here.
For our younger players this weekend, the Tadworth League got underway for 2007/8. The Under 9s were in action for the first time and, although the results didn't go their way, they can enjoy their competitive start to the season.
