ALL ACTION
25 November 2007 |
It was the busiest weekend of the season so far...with all 23 of our teams scheduled to be in action. Only a postponement in the U13s stopped it being a complete full house on the pitch.
With competition in all age groups, and plenty of high scoring games. it's hard to pick out highlights. But there was a good result for the |

U13 Girls (pictured right) - a 5-1 win at West Byfleet Scorpions sees them in third place in the Surrey Girls' League First Division. The U12As had an excellent 7-0 home victory against Epsom Eagles and a 1-1 away draw is an excellent result for the U11Bs against second placed side Storrington & Sullington Vipers.
In the U10s, the As picked up a home draw, the Bs celebrated an away victory at West Byfleet and the Cs can take great pride in their performance, losing by just a single goal at high-flying Perrywood Sports. Click here for all the results & match reports from 24/25 November. |

BADGERS CHARTER A BETTER COURSE
22 November 2007 |
Brockham Badgers is pleased to be able to announce that it has taken a place amongst the elite of England’s grassroots football clubs.
The Badgers have been awarded the FA’s Charter Standard. The Charter Mark is only given to clubs that reach the Football Association’s high standards for coaching, conduct and child welfare. |
|
The award also opens up the new possible avenues of much-needed funding, which will be vital to the future development of the Club.
The Charter Standard comes after many months of hard work by Head of Communications, Alison Robins, who co-ordinated our application for the award. Congratulations are due to Alison, and everone involved in the running of the Club.
Chairman Grant Ashley says, “The popularity of Brockham Badgers stems from our community approach. We want to do our best, but we’re not elitist. Our ethos is to welcome boys and girls of all standards, encourage them to enjoy playing football right through into adult life and to fulfil their personal potential – no matter what level that is.
“The FA Charter Standard recognises that our organisation now reaches the best standards and gives us a platform to continue to develop.”

IT'S A MARATHON NOT A SPRINT...
19 November 2007 |
....but it's still nice to be pace setters.
Brockham Badgers can boast no fewer than five table-topping sides, as a result of this weekend's action.
Both U16 teams have moved to the top of their Horsham and District divisions - with games in hand. And it's a similar story in the U14s where, despite both teams drawing 1-1, the |

As and Bs are also early season leaders. The U12Bs maintained their league leadership, moving seven points clear with a 5-1 home win over Horsham Crusaders.
In a packed weeked of football, with 22 Brockham teams in action, there was plenty more to celebrate. Spirited performances saw wins for the U13As and U13 Blacks, whilst there were brave and close results for the U15Bs, U13 Whites, U12As, U11As and U8 Whites.
Special mention too for the U10As, who went to Stoneleigh Athletic in the George Szekely Cup and earned a creditable 1-1 draw, before suffering the heartache of defeat on penalties.

GIANTKILLERS
12 November 2007 |
U11s Dad Peter Butterworth writes,
"The giant killing exploits of yesteryear live on in football folklore, overshadowing the hundreds of games that go by the book. Bournemouth beat Manchester United; Hereford beat Newcastle United; Wrexham beat Arsenal. Add to the list of legends: Brockham Badgers U11Bs beat the Roffey Robins."
Click here to read his report in full, as the U11s achieved the giantkilling feat of a weekend of cup action. |

Elsewhere, the U12As notched up an impressive win at Tooting and Mitcham to move into the last 32 of the County Cup, and the U16Bs are in the Quarter Finals of their League Cup, after a 5-0 win over Hurstpierpoint.
But the U15Bs, U14Bs, U12Bs and U11As will be able to concentrate on the league!
In the league, there were good wins for the U18s and U10Bs...and all three U9 sides had exciting matches. Click here for all the results and match reports from 10/11 November |

WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH!
6 November 2007 |
It was a weekend of rubbish....but only off the pitch.
On the field, Brockham teams set off like rockets. There were some cracking games and, whilst it difficult to single out one of several excellent results, the U11As home victory over AFC Wimbledon was a sparkler. |
|
Off the field, things got a bit dirty. Once again, Brockham Badgers played their part in helping clear up the village after another fantastically well-attended Brockham Bonfire (see picture above).
Thanks to the parents and players who turned up early on Sunday morning to clear litter from the Green and the Firework Field. The efforts of those who volunteered have ensured the Badgers will once again get a substantial and valuable donation to club funds from the Bonfire proceeds.
Numbers of volunteers were a little down this year, but those who made it managed to complete the task by about 9.30am. A terrific effort! If you weren't able to come along this time, please make a note in your diary for next year - and help Brockham Badgers continue to play it's part in the life of the village, as well as raising cash for the club.
