RUNNING FOR LUKE AND NEIL
26 May 2008

Brockham Badgers has embarked on a major fundraising effort. It marks the work of the rescue crews involved in the accident in which Luke Holland lost his life and his Dad, Neil, was criticially injured.

The way the events of January shocked us was very evident by the emotional applause for Luke, led by Neil, at the Family 5-a-side earlier this month. And a lot of thought has been going into ways in which we can all try and create something positive.

The Surrey Air Ambulance

The Club is aiming to raise £10,000 for the Air Ambulance Services which, without doubt, saved Neil’s life. These amazing services rely on public donations to keep running.

The U12s and U13s are the latest to stage a fundraising event. They carried out a sponsored 5k cross country around Brockham and Betchworth on Saturday 31st May, adding £1000 pounds to the fund in the process. Almost a hundred players, pets and parents took part. Click here for a full report. It's not too late to sponsor them. Just visit the fundraising website here and put the code CCC (for 'Cross Country Challenge') in the message with your donation.

The site has more details about the fundraising and also allow for any donations to receive gift aid - the tax return system that means every £10 donated which actually provide £12.80 for the Air Ambulance.

If any othe yeargroups in Brockham Badgers would like to set up any events to raise money for the cause, then email us to let us know what you would like to do and we can publicise the different events here on the Badgers' website.

Neil's Runners
And later this year, in July, a team of volunteers including Badgers' Chairman, Grant Ashley, will be raising sponsorship by taking part in the British 10K London Run.

If you would like to sponsor Neil's Runners, please visit one of two special "Just Giving" websites. Click here for the Surrey Air Ambulance donation site - and here for the London service site.

Brockham Badgers FC and Neil's Runners thank you for your support.
