BROCKHAM 08: THANK YOU
15 June 2008 |
The Brockham 08 Organising Committee would like to express its wholehearted thanks to all the players, parents and people throughout the village who helped make this weekend our biggest and most successful tournament yet.
A staggering 192 teams with more than 1500 players came to the Big Field over the weekend to take part in football that was competitive but fair. We couldn't have done it without the help of every single person who gave their time to help build or take down the site, referee or spend some time on one of the catering stalls. So - thank you.
Visit the Brockham 08 microsite here, for the winners, results from every game, reports and pictures from the event. And come back soon, when we'll have a report and pictures from the fundraising visit of the Surrey Air Ambulance.
Same time next year....here's to Brockham 09! |

A TON OF RUNNERS...AND TONS OF CASH
2 June 2008 |
Nearly a hundred boys from the U12s and U13s, along with parents and pets, joined the Brockham Badgers Air Ambulance fundraising this weekend - staging a 5k Cross Country Challenge around the village.
And between them they raised £1000 for the rescue services involved in Neil and Luke Holland's accident. |

Neil and Sally Holland were there to cheer the boys home as they became the latest fundraisers towards the Badgers' target of £10,000 for the Surrey and London Air Ambulance Services.

U12s JOIN THE RUN FOR LUKE AND NEIL
26 May 2008 |
The U12s have joined the fundraising effort for the Surrey and London Air Ambulance Services.
This weekend, they'll be staging a 5k cross country challenge to raise money for the rescue services who helped with the accident involving Neil and Luke Holland. |

The U12Bs - staging a sponsored Cross Country Challenge this weekend
|
The way the events of January shocked us was very evident by the emotional applause for Luke at the Family 5-a-side earlier this month. The Club is aiming to raise £10,000 for the Air Ambulance Services which, without doubt, saved Neil’s life. These amazing services rely on public donations to keep running.
After the U12s cross country, a team of volunteers will be raising sponsorship in the British 10k London Run in July. If any other yeargroups would like to help the fundraising, please email us to let us know what you would like to do and we can publicise the different events here on the Badgers' website.

BADGERS PLANNING APPLICATION AT SUNNYBANKS FARM, BETCHWORTH:
The Facts
18 May 2008 |
Brockham Badgers FC has recently submitted a planning application to Mole Valley District Council
to change the use of land at Sunnybanks Farm, Station Road, Betchworth, from agricultural to
recreational.
This application has been made via the land owners - Royce Services Engineering Ltd, and |
|
is
intended to provide additional grass football surfaces for the club’s members from September 2009, ensuring that Brockham Badgers can continue to provide football for all its current membership.
Residents immediately adjacent to the land were informed proactively by the landowner in advance of
receiving notice from MVDC, and both Buckland and Betchworth parish councils have been provided with full
planning application packs.
Despite this, the application has been the subject of considerable conjecture, assumption, and inaccurate
reporting. Now is a good time therefore, for the club to make clear its plans and position, to all its members
and to the residents of Brockham, Betchworth, and Buckland, so that everyone can form or review their
opinions from a position based upon real facts.
Click here to read the full club statement on the plans for Sunnybanks Farm.
If you would like to comment on this application then please visit the Mole Valley District Council web site planning portal here and seek out planning reference MO/2008/0622. Here you will also find details of the site plan, technical notes, plus notes of objection and support to date. The deadline for comments is Friday 23rd May. |
