Brockham Badgers U14A secured a solid win over Dorkinians Colts in their first game of the season, Badgers dominating the game and deserving their win.

Dorkinians opened brightly but after the opening period Badgers gained control and, from then on, dominated proceedings.  Henry Hill gave Badgers the lead on twenty minutes finishing off a good move starting with full back Joe Parker. Parker had played the ball to Ben Stokoe, Stokoe in turn finding Stephen Kehl whose cross was turned in by Hill from close range.  Badgers should have added to the scoreline before half time as Dorkinians struggled to get out of their half, but Colts defended well, clearing the ball off the line twice as they put up a good fight.

Within a minute of the second half Brockham were 2-0 up, lad of the match Hill playing in Kehl who ran on to the ball to roll it past the oncoming keeper.  Dorkinians hit back through striker Ollie Legg, but a second goal for Kehl with 15 minutes to go made the game safe for Badgers and ensured that Brockham started their campaign with all three points.

Squad: Connor Mitchell, Joe Parker, Tim Hopkins, Tom Bletso (c), Jack Hunt, Michael Carty, Henry Hill, Ben Stokoe, Henry Smith, Ollie Curtis, Stephen Kehl, Liam Doyle

New look Brockham Badgers U14B fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of a strong Albury side on Saturday.  This was the first competitive game this team had played together and Badgers had the misfortune to come up against a strong Albury side who clinically took all chances which came their way.

Brockham will look at the positives - the fact they Brockham matched Albury for the first twentyminutes of the game, kept going in the face of a heavy defeat and the performances of keeper George Corfield, captain Luke Prior and midfielder Josh Hook.  With more match practice this side will get better, but the boys will need to learn from the tight team play and power of the opposition if they are to turn things around sooner rather than later.

Squad: George Corfield, Max Ruff, Tom Kinsey, Sam Norkett, David Atkinson, Luke Prior (c), Dan Ryan, Josh Hook, Toby Dowle, Alex Ward, Will Sprange, Stefan Issberner

On Saturday 6th September Brockham Badgers played Copthorne and beat them a whopping 13-0 - the goals were scored by Andy Kehl (4), Andy Kensit (1), Will Hearn (1), Harry Morris (1), Ollo Hounsfield (1), Tommy Gill (4) and Sam Campbell (1).

At the beginning of the game, Brockham had some chances to score but they were always creeping over the bar or past the post. Eventually Brockham got their first goal of the season. The goal was scored by Andy Kehl.

After the first goal they just kept on coming with Tommy Gill scoring a hat-trick in under ten minutes. Copthorne were madly trying to get a goal back but they were denied by Ben and our great defence. The goals kept on coming in with Sam Campbell and Ollo scoring screamers

All in all it was a great game of football but we must work on the offside trap.

Thank you Lewis and Simon for organizing the match.

Strange as it may seem from the score line this first venture into 11-a-side football for the Meteors was a positive start.  But for an opposition striker with the strength and ability to score at will from anywhere within 35 yards of our goal, which he did, the match could have been much closer.

The boys stuck to their task as instructed, working at maintaining their shape and playing football, which they did for most of the match.  If they continue to work at playing the game as they did today they will improve quickly.

Goal scorer: Euan Ratcliffe

Man of the Match: Harrison Pirt
